Bring progress to life throughout Early Years with simple clear reporting

Assessment for Early Years is based on observation. Education professionals literally ‘see’ the children in their care make progress on a daily basis. When faced with hours of observations and a mountain of reporting many childminders, nurseries, pre-schools and reception class teachers have no doubt asked themselves ‘is there a better way?’

Early Years practitioners need to be able to record their observations quickly and easily and then communicate children’s progress to their parents in a meaningful way. Increasing parental engagement is well recognised to aid child development, as learning can be reinforced and built upon at home.

B Squared is focused on bringing progress to life throughout Early Years

  • Connecting Steps

Our assessment software enables easy on-the-go assessment for children in Early Years settings, with simple clear reporting to demonstrate their progress.

  • Evisense

Our evidence management solution acts like an electronic learning journal, so Early Years practitioners can easily and securely share photo/video evidence of achievements with parents.

Working with B Squared has helped us strengthen our assessment procedures and tighten our planning. The Connecting Steps assessment software was crucial in securing our Outstanding OFSTED Inspection.

Easy EYFS assessment for childminders, nurseries, pre-schools and reception classes

Early Steps is our assessment framework for Early Years. Used within our Connecting Steps assessment software, it covers from birth to the Exceeded Early Learning Goals (ELG) across all 7 areas. It assists with the observation process by breaking down the stages into smaller steps, enabling Early Years practitioners to record what each child has achieved and identify their next steps.

Connecting Steps can display these assessments in a variety of ways including individual and group reports and graphs to quickly and easily highlight progress made.

Use Evisense to demonstrate progress in Early Years with photo/video evidence

Evisense has been designed to ‘Tell the story’ of events from a child’s time in education. It is used by education professionals to record achievements and progress through photos, videos, audio files and documents, tracking a child’s learning journey from Early Years through Primary and Secondary education. The evidence of learning captured can be easily and securely shared with parents to increase parental engagement and help improve educational outcomes.

Evisense aims to make the evidence process as simple as possible - take a photo or record a video, annotate and post. It was developed in response to feedback from staff who were frustrated with the amount of time spent collating supporting evidence. This digital solution eliminates the laborious task of cutting and pasting photographs into reports. Evidence can also be linked to assessment points within our Connecting Steps software to demonstrate children’s progress. Find out more at www.evisense.com
